Outfit: African Skirt
From time to time, I’d like to show you new outfits based on pieces I’ve refashioned. This particular piece is a personal favourite – I started with a dress and made a skirt and a top.
Here’s the original ‘before’ picture; you can read more about what I did with this dress here. I originally styled this as part of an all black outfit like so:
But here it is styled with an alternative neutral colour: Gold.
It looks so pretty – and paired with the gold jumper makes similar colours in the skirt pop right out :)

Thanks love, I wasn’t happy with the styling first time around, this feels much better. There are so many colours in this skirt – so many possibilities! :)
The gold works so well with the skirt. It has a very fresh and springlike feel about it.
Thank you Claire, I think gold is a much better match for this skirt than black, but I’d like to try it with red or blue/green too. Thanks for reading!
Love it! This skirt would also look so great paired with a tucked-in red or yellow blouse, some wedge heels, and a cute clutch! So many possible combinations!
Yep, this is a really hard-working piece actually. I have a few other ideas for styling this baby so you may see it pop up again soon – especially if the weather gets warmer. Yellow is another good idea, I’ll have to see what I have in my wardrobe that works. Thanks for commenting!
I like it better with the gold! Brilliant :)
Yep – me too! Thanks for the comment. :)
I love how the sweater brings out all the gold tones in the skirt! :)
Thank you Belle, that’s the plan! ;-)
love the colors! great combo!
Thank you :)
I love it both ways. Each top makes it look entirely different. Love the skirt!

Thanks for commenting, Beth :-) I think the gold is my favourite over the black, but I can think of many other colours to pair it with that would work.
